Akil is a Fellow Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Akil qualified in 1995 and worked with a big four audit firm in India and in Canada (on secondment). Akil joined KPMG in the UAE in 1997 and is currently an Audit Partner. Akil has over 16 years of professional experience and has gained substantial experience in working with a broad spectrum of clients spread across geographies and business sectors. Presently, Akil primarily provides audit and related services to Automotive, Retail, Manufacturing, Infrastructure, Real Estate and Investment sector clients, which includes listed and non-listed, local and multinational groups. Akil also heads the KPMG UAE’s Department of Professional Practice (DPP) and provides technical support and training (on IFRSs and ISAs) to staff members within the firm. In November 2011, Akil conducted a workshop on ISAs at the DFSA Regional Audit Conference in Dubai.
