Leading in an evolving tax and business landscape

Bahrain enjoyed a tax-free status until 2017, when it introduced excise tax followed by value-added tax (VAT) in 2019. Bahrain’s tax landscape continues to evolve, with a number of other tax and reporting regulations implemented in recent years. Effective 2025, Bahrain has implemented a domestic minimum top-up tax (DMTT) in line with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Base Erosion Profit Shifting (BEPS) Pillar Two Inclusive Framework. Bahrain’s 2025-2026 fiscal budget also includes a proposal to introduce a broad-based Corporate Income Tax (CIT). Bahrain also has economic substance reporting requirements.  Whilst Bahrain has an overall business friendly outlook, with the continuous evolution of the tax landscape, navigating tax and regulatory requirements can be complex.
