Khalid Mahmood has more than twenty-four years experience of tax practice with KPMG. He is providing advisory and compliance services on taxation and corporate laws of Pakistan. Before joining the firm, he served an industrial group for more than eight years on key positions. Possessing strong knowledge of Pakistan’s taxation code and corporate laws, he represents corporate clients before administration and appellate authorities.
Khalid has also been involved in majority of leading tax M&A transactions and due diligence engagements (buy side). He has also been involved in tax advisory work on structured transactions, restructuring of businesses, double tax treaties’ issues, head office expenditures, employees’ taxation, business set-up etc. He has served clients from different industry segments including manufacturing & trading, insurance, pharmaceutical, energy & natural resources, banking & finance, information technology, communication, airline & shipping, other service industries and non-resident contractors.
Khalid has been member of the ‘Task Force on Tax & FBR Reforms’ constituted by the Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs and acted as convenor of its committee on ‘Digitization’.
He has served as President of Karachi Tax Bar Association, the largest tax bar of the country for year 2018-19 and has been member of Executive Committee of the Bar since 2011. He has also served as Senior Vice President of the Pakistan Tax Bar Association for the term 2021 – 2023.
Khalid has regularly been member of Committee on Fiscal Laws of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan and also acted as Convenor of its Task Force on ‘Broadening of Tax Base’.
He actively participates as presenter / panelist at various workshops on taxation and corporate laws including the continuing professional development activities conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, the Karachi Tax Bar Association, Pakistan Tax Bar Association and other professional bodies. He had been teaching subjects of taxation & corporate laws at various professional institutes.
