Preface
Dear Readers,
The transition to a sustainable economy and society can only be achieved together. Together as a society, together with our clients, together with our KPMG employees. We are determined to play an active role in shaping this transformation and, with our global sustainability programme Our Impact Plan, we are setting our priorities where we can make the most effective contribution to sustainable progress.
This is first and foremost as a purpose-driven transformation partner alongside our clients: Our corporate strategy inextricably combines our expertise as a consulting and auditing firm with a technological and sustainable perspective. We accompany our clients holistically on their transformation path, provide important impetus to help them become more sustainable companies and thus contribute to making the economy more digital, more resilient and more future-proof.
The expertise and passion of our KPMG team make the difference here. That's why we consistently organise KPMG as a Home for Talents: Inspiring young talent and experienced professionals to join us, promoting a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture and strengthening our collaboration - this is what we focus on as a Management Board team. But there is more to a culture of diversity: we rely on employees with different backgrounds, experiences, qualifications and needs. After all, we see diversity in an inclusive culture as a great opportunity for our innovative ability, resilience and future viability as a company. This year, the proportion of women at manager and senior manager level is 40 per cent. This demonstrates our efforts to achieve a fair share in promotions.
We see ourselves as an integral part of society and therefore take responsibility for the challenges it faces. Only if we all take decisive and binding action can we limit climate change and mitigate its consequences. The aim of our global and national environmental programme is to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030. Together with KPMG, we are currently at 12 per cent. We are therefore continuing to work hard to minimise our environmental impact - both in our own business and along our supply chain. But our responsibility must go further if we, as a global community, are to overcome the consequences of climate change. As a company, we are an indispensable part of the solution for meaningful, effective climate finance. That is why we are proud of our partnership with the WWF, through which we are supporting two nature conservation projects in Africa and Brazil, thus making an additional financial contribution to global climate protection.
We invite you to follow our journey with this sustainability report. Take a look back with us at what we have achieved so that we can use this experience to effectively shape the future.
Kind regards
Mattias Schmelzer
