I lived and worked in Japan for a total of six years. As part of a DAAD scholarship, I was able to learn the Japanese language (fluently) and a lot about Japanese (business and corporate) culture. I still visit Japan regularly for business and pleasure. Japan and Japanese culture fascinate me and have become like a second home to me.
My focus is on providing (tax and legal) advice to Japanese corporations, especially with regard to German subsidiaries and permanent establishments.
As Head of the Country Practice Japan at KPMG Germany, it is particularly important to me to build trusting and long-term relationships with our Japanese clients and the respective contact persons.
The basis for good advice and long-term cooperation is the expertise in our teams. However, experience in cooperation and communication with the Japanese and German contacts at the various levels is also essential for our Japanese business:
Japanese company headquarters
European holding company
German subsidiaries and operating sites.
Another success factor for the Japanese business is the close cooperation within our KPMG Global Japan Practice (GJP) network.
Trusting communication is the basis for understanding the expectations and requirements of our clients. The personal relationship is the basis for insights that give us a decisive competitive advantage.
I also have close personal ties with Japan - my wife is Japanese.
