      Mattias Schmelzer has been Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Spokesman of the Executive Board since October 2023. In this role, he represents KPMG in Germany vis-à-vis our clients and on various committees. He represents KPMG in Germany in the international KPMG network as a member of the Global Board and as a member of the EMA Board.

      From 2021 to October 2024, he was also responsible for the support of groups and listed clients across all services as Divisional Director Corporates.

      Mattias Schmelzer was appointed to the Executive Board under stock corporation law in 2018 and headed the Markets division as CMO until September 2023. From 2014 to 2023, he was also Regional Board Member for the North Hamburg region.

      Mattias Schmelzer joined KPMG in 2003 and was appointed Partner in 2011. He advised and audited large and medium-sized family businesses as well as capital market-oriented groups. As an auditor, he was primarily responsible for auditing the annual and consolidated financial statements of clients in the retail, shipping and logistics sectors.
