Corporate governance – the area of a company that deals with responsible corporate management – has changed significantly in recent years. New topics and challenges have emerged and continue to emerge to which answers need to be found.

Contents of the current issue (November 2024)

New regulations, directives and standards - the number of regulations that companies are confronted with is constantly increasing. In addition to German legislation, there are numerous regulatory requirements from the European Union aimed at controlling the economy. The current issue of CGO magazine looks at these regulations and analyses the challenges and opportunities they present.

EU AI Act and EU Data Act

The regulation of data and artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the EU's key concerns - with the EU AI Act and the EU Data Act, it has launched two major pieces of legislation. In the CGO magazine, we look at how these plans will affect the innovative strength and competitiveness of companies.

EU Network and Information Security Directive (NIS-2) and Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA)

With increasing digitalisation, the threat of cyber attacks is also growing. This is why the European legislator has introduced directives in which it defines uniformly high standards for cyber security. We analyse whether these rules are sufficient and provide recommendations for action for companies and financial service providers.

Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG)

More environmental protection and respect for human rights along the supply chain – this is what the EU is obliging companies to do with this law. However, the LkSG has been criticised by many companies due to the high costs involved. We show how compliance can strengthen reputation and create synergies when implemented holistically.

EU money laundering amendment 2024

The comprehensive reform of the Anti-Money Laundering Act is intended to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing even more efficiently and ensure greater security in the financial system. We provide an overview of the most important changes and their impact on companies and financial institutions.

National laws and regulations

In addition to the EU, German legislators are also coming up with new regulations. We take a closer look at standards and regulations in the construction sector, measures to reduce bureaucracy and formal requirements in legal transactions and show how companies and public institutions can deal with them efficiently and even benefit from them.
