The public sector is the largest property owner in the Federal Republic of Germany. Federal and state ministries, municipal administrations, healthcare organisations, social insurance companies, churches, foundations and non-profit organisations own a large number of properties and buildings with a wide variety of uses and building qualities.
Digitalisation, demographic change, climate targets, new working environments and the shortage of living space as well as changes in the values and habits of users and their customers are also changing the demands placed on the property portfolio.
