A public-sector financial institution wanted to modernise its IT landscape and accelerate its move to the public cloud. This client case study demonstrates how we supported the establishment of a Cloud Migration Factory, migrated the first application into production within a few months, and laid the foundations for digital sovereignty and future innovation.

Planning a structured path to the cloud
The client wanted to migrate part of its application landscape to the public cloud in order to modernise its IT architecture, gain access to new technologies and accelerate time-to-market. Furthermore, the aim was to reduce costs and, after 30 years of on-premises operation, build up new cloud expertise within the organisation.
From the target architecture to live operation
We began by analysing the technical and organisational dependencies within the overall programme and identifying potential risks associated with the migration. On this basis, our team developed the target architecture for a pilot project and defined the technical standards for further implementation. Automated migration pipelines were then set up to ensure the transfer of applications was efficient and reproducible. Comprehensive quality assurance mechanisms were established to enable the migration results to be continuously monitored and validated. Close collaboration between cloud engineers, transformation managers and architects enabled the early identification of risks, swift decision-making and rapid solutions to technical challenges.
Migrate faster. Reap long-term benefits.
Within six months, the first application was successfully migrated to the cloud. Operating costs were reduced by 40 per cent through optimisations, and staff were empowered to operate cloud applications independently in future. This not only resulted in a successful pilot, but also laid the foundations for a resilient and future-proof cloud architecture.
