      MAKE Carve-outs Day One-Ready

An international industrial client was planning to spin off a business unit worth billions from the group and establish it as an independent entity. This client case study illustrates how KPMG supported the separation of finance, IT and operational structures and created the organisational conditions necessary for the carve-out.

      Day One Ready

The spun-off unit achieved full autonomy within a year.

      20 % increase in efficiency

Significant savings were achieved in the finance and accounts department by the external service provider.

      Sustainable transparency

The dashboards that have been implemented are still used today for operational receivables management.

      The path to customer transformation

Putting a business unit on the path to success

The client was planning to spin off a business unit worth billions. To ensure the new unit could be fully operational from day one, numerous issues relating to organisation, responsibilities, financial processes and IT systems had to be resolved. The aim: to break away from existing group structures and establish an independent organisation.

Creating structure. Developing a vision. Ensuring transparency.

Our experts first brought structure to the complexity of the carve-out, identified risks and established the necessary governance framework. Working alongside the client, the team then developed a vision for the processes, systems and responsibilities of the new organisation. In addition, Power BI dashboards were implemented, which provided transparency regarding key performance indicators and, in particular, supported receivables management.

      Creating autonomy. Boosting efficiency.

After one year, the spun-off unit was fully autonomous and thus ‘Day One Ready’. Efficiency gains of 20 per cent were achieved in the finance and accounting departments. The dashboards introduced during the project continue to be used to manage the company’s operational processes.
