From technology upgrade to strategic transformation

A financial services company was facing challenges in the modernisation of its core system. The project had progressed slower than anticipated and failed to deliver the expected value or meet the timeline. Over several years, only a few products had been implemented, leaving the original goals unmet. When the situation called for a reassessment, the client turned to KPMG for expert support in re-planning the timeline and execution strategy, ultimately expanding the technology upgrade into a full-scale business transformation.

To address the challenges and drive meaningful transformation, KPMG took the lead in redesigning the program with a sharp focus on accelerating delivery and expanding the transformation’s scope. The first step was to collaboratively redefine the strategic vision, ensuring that the transformation effort fully supported the organisation’s broader business objectives. By breaking down the vision into actionable OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), we established a clear framework to track and measure progress effectively.

We then worked with the client to restructure the transformation scope, including a clear migration strategy to transition from legacy systems, and developed a comprehensive roadmap outlining the sequence of activities to be executed. To further fast-track progress, we introduced a toolkit with practical recommendations for acceleration and deployed a Transformation Management Office (TMO) to synchronise efforts across all teams involved. This approach enabled coordination across the initiative and ensured that the project was integrated with the company’s overall operations. All of these elements were compiled into a clear and actionable final plan, providing the foundation for sustained success.

Clear and actionable transformation throughout the journey to completion

Through strategic guidance and operational leadership, KPMG enabled the client to move forward with a clear and actionable transformation plan that aligned with their long-term vision and business goals. This plan provided the structure needed to effectively lead and implement the transformation, ensuring its relevance throughout the journey to completion. The initiative created value by achieving cost reductions, faster timelines, and improving the efficiency of service delivery processes.

The transformation was holistic, addressing all critical elements without leaving gaps that could impede progress. With clearly defined metrics and tangible business outcomes, the project ensured measurable value through improved operations and the organisation’s ability to deliver services in line with its strategic objectives.

We drive seamless transformation by integrating strategy, technology, and organizational change. Combining a technology-agnostic approach with leading ecosystems like Microsoft, SAP, and ServiceNow, we align business processes, solutions, and culture. From vision to execution to value realization, we support our clients every step of the way.
