Devang has over 25 years of professional experience, with over 16 years in Deal Advisory practice. He also has several years of experience in social finance and impact investing.
Devang is currently the Global COO for KPMG’s ESG Advisory practice and is focused on working with PE clients on their ESG & Climate Strategy & Transformation.
He is co-leading a multibillion-dollar and globally renowned Private Equity Account for KPMG w.r.t. ESG DD. He has delivered multiple ESG DDs for this account and is now working with them to build the ESG Equity story for one of their portfolio companies in India. In addition, he has led the ESG Strategy & Transformation project for high growth auto-component manufacturing company.
He has also recently advised one of the renowned ASPAC private equity funds in developing the impact strategy, thesis and framework for its entire deal lifecycle and a multinational corporate on their ESG-specific product channel strategy.
Devang has recently worked with the Impact Fund in developing a blended finance structure for healthcare-focused Impact Bond.
Devang has also briefly worked with the UNDP on developing an SDG Financing facility, with the aim of developing innovative financial instruments in India as well as thought leadership around social stock exchange. This includes impact bonds and blended financing instruments to support city and state SDG projects.
He is working with one of the major Indian Foundations to scale up an ultra-poor program across the country. This involves developing finance and program strategy with the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
Moreover, Devang has been an advisor to the start-up incubator NCore, where he advised early-stage start-ups that are focused on solving complex social challenges via innovative business models or technology.
Devang also developed a strategic framework focused on funds impact measurement and management practices. Leveraging this framework, he, along with the Impact Investor Council of India, published a position paper on the State of Impact Measurement and Management in India.
Devang also oversees the deployment of KPMG’s grant capital to social enterprises in India. As part of his responsibility, he is in charge of developing the social impact investment strategy within the broader ESG framework, assessing the social enterprises to implement this strategy and evaluating the impact created through the programs undertaken. Through this process, he is currently working with six social enterprises and helping them design their strategy around a business model and build a strong impact measurement framework.
Previously, he has worked on several US, UK, European and Middle East M&A Diligence, turnaround and performance-improvement projects. Additionally, he has served as the interim manager, leading turnaround initiatives at the stressed firms. He brings in global experiences, having worked in the US, the UK, Canada, Austria, Hungary, China, Australia and India.
Devang has also led several financial and business due diligence projects for PE and corporate clients looking for acquisitions in the US. The PE clients included One Equity Partners, Madison Dearborn Partners, Oak Hill Capital, Odyssey Investment Partners and First Reserve Corporations. His corporate clients included Emerson Electric, ITW and Cargill.
Devang has a strong sector experience in Consumer Goods & Retail, Aviation and Industry Manufacturing.
