Nilachal has more than 20 years of experience advising national and state governments to enable large-scale transformation and promote rapid and equitable social and economic development in India as well as globally. He has extensive experience in leading transformation strategy formulation, complex change management, process re-engineering, quality assurance, capacity-building programmes at national scale, across sectors, including government reforms on water and sanitation, public health, urban development, skill development, economic development and public services delivery. He is currently leading teams to support key national priorities  in Water Sanitation and Hygiene(WASH), universal health coverage, skill development , digital infrastructure amongst others.  He has also worked intricately with some of the leading International Financing Institutions (IFIs) to enable large technical assistance projects in Health, Human and Social Services.

Nilachal joined KPMG in India in 2014 and in his role as head of health, human and social services he has led large-scale technical assistance to central and state government programmes in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), women and child development, financial inclusion, rural development, public health, social housing and livelihoods. Prior to joining the firm, he was at Accenture in India, where he was driving the Skill and Intelligent Cites Portfolio at the national and state levels.

He is a regular speaker on sectoral/policy matters in media and industry forums. Moreover, Nilachal has conceptualised and authored thought-leadership publications on water, sanitation, rural transformation in India, impact of impact investments and the transformation of the anganwadi system etc.
