Suneel offers more than two decades of professional experience in conceptualising, planning, and implementing capital investment projects, portfolios, and programmes for private, institutional, and government sector clients. Suneel’s formative years were with one of India’s largest engineering and construction contractors, and then as a management consultant, enabling large capital projects and programmes to succeed across India, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Poland, Croatia, Brazil, South Africa, Namibia, Thailand, and even in an offline mode for projects in Singapore, U.S., U.K., and other nations.
Suneel has helped set up and run KPMG in India’s Major Projects Advisory (MPA) business in India, creating one of India’s largest teams dedicated to offering management consulting services for capital programs and projects. MPA services enable stakeholders to optimise their complex programs and projects, reduce time, cost, and risk, enhancing governance, ESG, and safety, serving project owners, investors, and financiers/bankers, EPC contractors, regulators, and ministries/government departments. Suneel offers learning and experience from diverse sectors: engineering and construction, oil, gas and chemicals, real estate, manufacturing (cement, steel, pharmaceuticals, discrete/process), water, roads and highways, energy (generation and transmission), and renewable energy (solar and wind). In addition to enhancing programme and project performance, Suneel also enables organisations for capacity building and enhancing the organisational core for improved project conceptualisation, planning, and implementation.
Suneel has also supported multiple international KPMG member firms in setting up and offering MPA services and in publishing leading practices and thoughts to enhance capital project performance. He has been instrumental in ideating, designing, and implementing multiple digital and technology tools for KPMG in India. These proprietary KPMG in India tools support project owners and contractors for capital project oversight with improved visualisation, data analytics, and decision-making. Between October 2021 and March 2024, he also undertook an added responsibility to help create a larger market for KPMG’s technology-enabled consulting solutions, tapping into the opportunity offered by Industry 4.0-based technologies to create solutions for KPMG Industrial Automation, Intelligence, and Digitalisation business. He has also participated in setting up KPMG Innovation Kaleidoscope – Insights Centre in Mumbai and Bengaluru, both in India.
Suneel also contributes to the consulting profession by conducting a full credit course on building business consulting capability and skills once a year for postgraduate students. He has conducted this course with Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai, India, for over 10 years and once with SP Jain’s International MBA program in Dubai, UAE. He also contributes to the industry by authoring multiple articles, moderating panel discussions, and sharing leading practices and insights for enhancing the business of capital projects, their implementation, and performance improvement.
