Stephen is a partner at KPMG East Africa and Country Managing Partner for KPMG in Uganda. He has over 25 years of experience working in KPMG in East Africa (mainly Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi) and two years in the United States of America. Stephen has extensive experience providing financial statement audit services to clients in financial services mainly Banks, Insurance companies, Development Banks, Central Banks, Pension funds and Microfinance institutions. He has also served clients in Public sector mainly Government, Development partners, Energy and Natural Resources, Transport, Retail and Consumer Industrial Markets. In addition, he has also provided tax and advisory services to various clients in different sectors.
Stephen has supported and trained several clients in the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and IPSAS. He has served in the past as a member of Council for the Institute of Certified Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), Chairman of the professional standards committee of Council and current Chairman of the Fire Awards committee of the Institute of Certified Accountants of Uganda. While in Rwanda, he was a member of the Audit committee of Institute of Certified Accountants of Rwanda (ICPAR) and a member of the inspection committee of ICPAR.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Upper second) from Makerere University, Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Heriot-Watt University-Edinburgh Business School and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). Stephen is a member of ICPAU, ICPAR, OPC Burundi and ACCA.
