Chen Kian joined KPMG in 2000 and was admitted as an Audit Partner in 2015. During his tenure of working with the Firm, he also worked at the Kota Kinabalu branch for two years from 2004 to 2006, and overseas in the UK office from 2006 to 2008. In 2015, he undertook a secondment to the MIA as Technical Director of the Institute.
Presently, Chen Kian is the Head of Department of Professional Practice, which is the technical department within the Audit division dealing with accounting and auditing issues. He is also the Head of Learning & Development for Audit, responsible for overseeing the training programme for both accounting and auditing topics for audit professionals.
Chen Kian is a member of the Audit and Assurance Standards Board (AASB) of the MIA, MFRS Application and Implementation Committee (MAIC) of the MASB, Financial Statements Review Committee (FSRC) of the MICPA, as well as various working groups of the MASB. He is also an adjudicator for the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA).
Chen Kian is also a member of the Industry Advisory Board of a local university.
Work experience
- Chen Kian has 25 years of experience auditing public listed and multi-national companies. Chen Kian’s industry experience includes oil and gas, power, trading, manufacturing, logistics and agriculture sectors.
- Other than audit, Chen Kian is involved in providing technical accounting advisory services and reporting accountants work for capital market transactions, in particular, debt financing scheme for infrastructure project.
