The purpose of the CO2 Performance Ladder is to encourage companies to become aware of their own CO2 emissions and to continuously look for new opportunities to reduce emissions as a result of their own business operations and projects. Furthermore, it is a tool designed to assist organizations in lowering their carbon emissions and serves as both a CO2 management system and a procurement resource.

Tenders

The CO2 Performance Ladder stimulates ambition among companies to actively reduce CO2 by fictitious awarding in a tender. The basic principle of the ladder is that companies' efforts are honored. A higher score on the ladder is rewarded with a concrete advantage in the tender process, expressed as a fictitious discount on the price. This advantage is determined by the level that a company has reached on the CO2 Performance Ladder. The higher the level on the certificate, the more advantage the company receives.

Scope of the certification

The entity on the CO2 Conscious certificate is KPMG N.V., consisting of separate business units in which the Assurance and Advisory services to clients and the support services respectively are housed. The entire organization is included in the CO2 Performance Ladder; there are no components that are left out of the CO2 Performance Ladder.
