KPMG’s art collection is held by a foundation under Dutch law: Stichting Kunstcollectie KPMG, established in 2006.
The purpose of the foundation is to make art accessible to everyone who is interested, to people at KPMG and to others. We make art available not only by exhibiting it in the public spaces of our offices, but also by giving guided tours to those who are interested (for free and by appointment only), and by providing part of our collection on loan to museums, exhibitions and art galleries, or by exhibiting it there.
We also want to offer young talented artists a stage by purchasing their art works. In this way, we can make a modest social contribution to young artists and to the cultural sector. We prefer to purchase the works of art of young artists because this enables us to continue to support them in their development. It is not our intention to create a museum collection: that is what museums are for.
Our art collection serves to invigorate the interior and exterior of KPMG’s offices and to create an inspiring work environment for staff, visitors and clients. KPMG wants to promote the creativity of its staff by enhancing their working environment. Within KPMG’s corporate culture, art is part of that, and we want to introduce our staff to our works of art.
The key starting point for purchasing works of art is that the art has to be contemporary and created by promising young artists who have a relationship with the Netherlands. Furthermore, the works of art must reflect KPMG’s core values. The quality of the works, in relation to our criteria, is leading. The collection therefore also consists of a wide range of art forms, including photography, graphic works, oil paintings and video art.
It comprises some 600 works of art, on display across all of KPMG’s offices.
