Darshana has over 20 years’ experience as a tax advisor and senior Inland Revenue policy official. He specialises in financial services and international taxation advisory. Darshana advises a range of clients, including banks, investment funds, and property and charitable organisations, and has advised clients on both New Zealand inbound and outbound taxation issues, including the impact of the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting rules.
As KPMG’s tax policy team leader, Darshana works closely with Tax Officials and Government on various tax policy and technical matters, including on behalf of a range of clients. He is one of KPMG New Zealand’s representatives on the New Zealand Tax Advisory Group of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. With increasing public scrutiny about tax, and tax authority focus on effective tax risk management, Darshana also helps clients ensure that they have appropriate tax controls, strategies and governance frameworks in place.
Darshana is KPMG’s wealth management sub-sector leader, with a focus on ensuring KPMG’s whole of firm expertise is available to our wealth and investment fund clients.
As a regular presenter and commentator on tax developments, Darshana is able to clearly articulate complex matters and offer pragmatic solutions.
