Launched in June 2025 by KPMG in Singapore, the National Youth Council (NYC) and the Institute of Public Relations of Singapore (IPRS), the Gen2050 Youth Action Programme has been an inspiring movement for youths to step up, speak out and Be in Front – equipping them with the skills, networks and confidence to tackle real-world challenges and drive meaningful change.

A recent highlight was the milestone Youth Action Forum on 25 Nov 2025, where around 300 youths, educators and partners gathered at the National University of Singapore University Cultural Centre for a buzzing morning of lively conversations, hands-on booths and plenty of ‘aha!’ moments.

These insights set the tone for a lively dialogue with policymakers and industry leaders, including Dinesh Vasu Dash, Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and Ministry of Manpower; David Chua, Chief Executive Officer, National Youth Council; Lee Sze Yeng, Managing Partner, KPMG in Singapore; and Ross Gan, President, IPRS. The conversation was honest, forward-looking and packed with practical advice on how youths can lead the charge to thrive in an uncertain world.

      The interactive marketplace included:

      •  social sustainability showcase featuring youth-led sustainability projects and an SG Youth Plan booth which highlighted how youth voices are shaping national initiatives like Gen2050.

      • An interactive photo spot  where youths penned their hopes for a better future and left their mark – literally – on the special Gen2050 installation.

      • An AI-powered “Portrait of the Future” digital wall, where youths turned their hopes for tomorrow into a vibrant, collective vision.

      • The “Menu of Tomorrow” challenge inspired by economic rice (cai fan), where youths were challenged to build a meal that balances profit, sustainability and inclusion, just like resilient businesses must do.

      • A  “Future of Work” zone where youths played interactive games and explored how to stay adaptable and future-ready, no matter how the job market shifts.

The action didn’t stop at the stage. The event also featured an interactive marketplace with gamified booths that immersed youths in real-world decision-making and sparked fresh thinking about global challenges – which was in line with findings from a national youth survey that KPMG, NYC and IPRS shared during the Forum. Capturing the voices of 1,000 youths, communication and interpersonal skills, adaptability and lifelong learning, and analytical and critical thinking were identified as the most valued competencies needed to thrive in the workforce.

In this The Business Times Thrive interview, Sze Yeng shares her thoughts on what the future of work looks like for consultants, how AI is transforming the profession and the nature of work at KPMG, and advice for youths considering a career at KPMG.

Running alongside the Forum, KPMG also hosted the Gen2050 Structured Accelerated Programme at our Clubhouse, designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to craft impactful, scalable solutions.

From October to November 2025, a group of passionate youths tackled modules on social entrepreneurship, problem-solving, stakeholder management and pitching essentials. With insights shared by industry experts, team activities facilitated by KPMG's Leaders 2050 network, as well as guidance from KPMG, NYC and IPRS mentors, the youths worked on real-world solutions to real-world challenges.

This culminated in a memorable pitch event in January 2026, where participants delivered inspiring pitches of their ground-up projects, covering a wide range of areas from caregiving support to youth-led change, social inclusion and mental wellness. The youth teams will be receiving seed funding to bring their ideas to life.

Gen2050 shows that when we listen to young people and work together – across business, government and community – we can create real impact. As part of this tripartite partnership, KPMG is proud to bring industry insights, mentorship and a commitment to social sustainability to the table.
