For the 10th year running, the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ISCA) Games trophy has found its way back into familiar hands with KPMG once again crowned overall champions, a remarkable feat that cements our legacy as a powerhouse in the Games.

More than 400 colleagues donned blue across 28 sports, battling through fierce competition to deliver an impressive medal haul of 11 golds, 13 silvers and 13 bronzes. Their collective efforts underscored the dedication, teamwork and resilience that define Team KPMG. The triumph was marked at the ISCA Games Closing Ceremony on 12 Dec 2025, where our athletes lifted the trophy with pride, and later at the Appreciation Event back home at the Clubhouse on 8 Jan 2026, which honoured their contributions and achievements across the season.

Rec Club Advisor Amit Sadana reflected on this achievement: “10 years in a row means a lot to us, and what makes it special is the resilience and passion of our people. Each season we reflect, we learn and we come back stronger. That mindset has kept us going, and I’m proud of how the whole team pulls together year after year.”

Among the many triumphs, the football and futsal teams stood out for reclaiming double gold after years of near misses.

Captain Gary Chong described the season as one of the busiest and most demanding yet, with the teams balancing multiple external competitions beyond the ISCA Games while maintaining weekly friendlies and training.

Despite the departure of experienced players and logistical disruptions, the team’s unity never wavered. Purposeful friendlies and “tactical masterclass” sessions created a feedback loop of learning and improvement across both formats, keeping them on the front foot all season. The defining moment came in the crucial ISCA Games football match against reigning double champions Deloitte. Applying everything they had worked on, with a touch of what the team jokingly calls “the power of friendship”, KPMG found the back of the net time and time again, securing a resounding 6-1 victory.

As Gary shared: “After years of coming close, achieving double gold was especially meaningful, and reflected both our growth and determination to return to the top. Here’s to many more championships ahead!”

If football’s story was about reclaiming glory, volleyball’s was about sustaining it.

Since 2019, KPMG has dominated both indoor and beach volleyball, and 2025 was no exception. The teams have set the benchmark, with players showing up consistently for weekly training and external competitions to build chemistry on the court, shared captain Daniel Png.

Part of their continued excellence was adaptability between formats. The teams focused on indoor fundamentals to strengthen core skillsets, then made the extra effort to adjust to the beach format on game day. That resilience delivered standout results: both KPMG teams reached the top four in indoor volleyball for the first time in five years, with Team 1 serving up gold in both formats without dropping a set.

Daniel said: “It motivates us to every year to keep up the hard work and maintain the success achieved in previous years. For KPMG, winning the ISCA Games 10 years in a row shows the persistent effort across the firm, supported by leadership and the Rec Club. It’s a legacy we’re proud to carry forward.”

While football returned to the summit and volleyball held firm, darts broke new ground.

Formed just three years ago, the team began with little experience, with most players barely able to land three darts on the board, shared captain Mithiran Rethnam. Yet through sheer drive and commitment, they climbed steadily: quarter-finals in their first year, semi-finals in their second, and finally hitting the bullseye in their third.

Mithiran shared that the team changed its approach this year to get out of their comfort zone: joining an external darts league and organising friendlies against other teams, including matches in Malacca against KPMG Malaysia in 2024 and 2025, which helped hone their mental game. The pay-off came in the ISCA Games final, where the team delivered an emphatic 3–0 victory.

Mithiran reflected: “What we lacked in natural talent and prior experience, we made up through drive and commitment. We’re driven to maintain this standard for the team, to prove both to ourselves and our opponents that this did not happen by luck and was not a one-off instance. If anything, winning gold is just the beginning for us!”
