London, December 8, 2023:

Global CEOs are making generative AI a top investment priority. KPMG's 2023 CEO Outlook indicated that 70 percent are investing heavily in generative AI as their competitive edge for the future.

To support this focus and as part of its own strategic prioritization and investment in the development and deployment of leading AI solutions, KPMG International has appointed David Rowlands as Global Head of AI. It has also launched a global KPMG Trusted AI framework outlining principles of responsible and ethical AI transformation.

In this newly created role, David will help drive and implement KPMG’s AI strategy to apply emerging AI technologies to enhance client engagements and the employee experience in a way that is responsible, trustworthy and safe. This will include equipping KPMG professionals with the latest AI tooling, developing AI solutions for clients and building a global AI immersion program to help ensure KPMG teams are able to leverage the benefits of AI.

Most recently, David served as Head of Consulting for KPMG in the UK, sitting on the UK Executive Committee and the Global Advisory Steering Group. He brings a strong track record of delivering technology enabled transformations to clients across the world.

I am excited about the promise of AI. With the ability to boost productivity with speed and scale, AI models continue to transform businesses and are one of the keys to unlocking sustainable growth in a way that can build a better future for people, companies, and society. I am looking forward to working in collaboration with people from across the globe to firmly position KPMG as a leader in AI.

David Rowlands

Global Head of AI, KPMG International

In addition to this appointment, KPMG has today also launched its KPMG Trusted AI approach, built on the principles of fairness, transparency, explainability, accountability, data integrity, reliability, security, safety, privacy, and sustainability.  The ten-pillar guide is KPMG’s strategic framework to help design, build, deploy, and use AI tech solutions in a responsible and ethical manner while also accelerating value and making the difference for clients, people and communities.

He added, “like many other global organizations, we understand responsible AI is a complex regulatory, business, and technical challenge and recognize that as scrutiny and regulation of AI increases, organizations may need policies and practices they can positively employ across their business.

There is critical need to deploy AI responsibly.  With KPMG’s Trusted AI framework, we bring together the ingenuity, business, and industry expertise of KPMG professionals with the power and scale of AI programs to help organizations address this challenge with confidence.”
