Safeera has worked in the Energy & Natural Resources sector for over 21 years. Her extensive industry experience spans mining, chemicals, oil and gas, and forestry, where she has served as the lead audit engagement partner for several JSE‑listed and global organisations. She has deep technical expertise in the implementation and auditing of accounting standards, including IFRS, GRAP and US GAAP.
Her experience includes implementing and reviewing SOX controls at a major energy company. During a two‑year period within the organisation, she played a key role in its restructure and the re‑implementation of SOX controls, ensuring alignment with the operating model and full COSO compliance.
Safeera currently serves a portfolio of JSE‑listed entities and is recognised for her strong track record in coordinating and managing global audit teams to deliver high‑quality engagements on time and within budget.
She joined KPMG in 2000 in the Audit division and became a director of KPMG South Africa on 1 September 2007.
In 2019, Safeera was appointed as the national Head of Energy & Natural Resources, and on 1 September 2019, she joined the Executive Committee of KPMG South Africa.
