A long-time champion of equality, Jennifer Westacott AC has played a pivotal role in shaping an inclusive culture at KPMG Australia since returning to the firm as a Special Advisor in July 2024.
Jennifer is passionate about inclusion being an important catalyst for driving innovation and good business. "It was clear the firm had kept the torch burning on diversity and inclusion, and ultimately, that is a key reason I decided to return to the firm," Jennifer said.
"This is crucial to creativity, innovation and productivity – qualities that are essential to meeting our clients’ needs and exceeding their expectations."
Jennifer wrapped up her eight-year tenure as Co-Patron of Pride in Diversity as KPMG Australia was awarded Platinum Status at the prestigious LGBTQ+ Inclusion Awards in June 2025 – an accolade that sets the gold standard for workplace inclusivity.
"Platinum is extremely hard to achieve," Jennifer said. ‘This signals to anyone looking to join our firm that this is a workplace where you can truly excel as yourself – and that is a crucial pathway to greater productivity and innovation.’
"If people don’t feel like they can be themselves at work – if they’re not feeling safe or valued – they can’t fully unleash their creativity. Creativity is what drives innovation. That is good for business, the economy and what ultimately sets us apart."
Almost 12 months after rejoining KPMG Australia, the former Business Council of Australia CEO was made a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) – the nation’s highest civilian accolade.
It was formal recognition of her outstanding contributions to business, education, public policy and community development – all of which have been driven by her passion for driving success through inclusivity.
"A key part of my role here at KPMG Australia is to ensure our workplace is a beacon of equity," Jennifer said. "It’s about creating a culture where people want to stay, thrive, and contribute to something bigger."
