      Hear from our people

I've carried plates, attended bars, checked in/out guests, and coordinated a 300-room hotel. With more than 6 years working in hotel operations, I was intrigued by how data drove team performance and customer experience. This led me to upskilling in the fields of data science. Fast forward to 2023, I've been working in the KPMG Data & Cloud team for just over a year and just celebrated my first promotion in consulting! I think because I come from a non-traditional background, I can bring in the soft skills I learnt in the previous career, a new way of looking at things and a difference approach. For anyone in the same position as myself, I'd encourage you to talk to lots of people, get to know what you love, build something real and practical and broaden your experience.

My parents and I migrated to Australia in the early 90s and it was the first time I had been to another country on a plane. I knew that one of my greatest passions would be to travel and live all over the world and in my career I've lived in different parts of Australia, South East Asia and North America. The experiences of my childhood gave me the resilience to be comfortable with change and always remember my roots would be with me whenever I went. My common thread over the years has always been a strong, female mentor and I get to do this through volunteering and our partnerships where I can mentor, coach and guide girls and women as they go through their own journey. Now it's my turn to pay it forward.

I recently moved from KPMG Ghana to our Sydney team. Everyone around me has been so supportive in navigating my move both professionally and socially. My move was also smooth through support with organising flights, transport, through to securing an apartment and I was also assigned a buddy. There have been lots of opportunities here already – from exposure to bigger markets and larger portfolios in audit, and the unending learning avenues. I've only been here a few months, so far, I've visited the Kiama Beach blow hole and I'm looking forward to more travel. All these different experiences would not have been possible without the support I have received from KPMG.
