Tax is a dynamic field with constant change and challenges. It is this environment that has kept James engaged and challenged for three decades at KPMG. “The tax world has changed significantly since I first started with KPMG as an undergraduate in July 1996 – the breadth and complexity of the tax law, the way in which companies view tax and develop their approach to managing tax risks, how the ATO engages with taxpayers and advisers, and the impact of international tax competition on business, all of which have impacted on what we do on a day-to-day basis to help our clients,” he says.

James is a Partner in our Corporate Tax team, which encompasses corporate tax, indirect tax, tax management, transfer pricing, tax controversy and employment taxes and remuneration advisory groups. He has worked in Adelaide and Melbourne and specialises in corporate tax for Energy and Natural Resources companies, and for the services and manufacturing sectors.

“Working with mining companies through both the boom and then the downturn in commodity prices has been a great learning experience."

James is motivated to assist clients in meeting the challenges of the changes to tax laws and regulations worldwide in response to the OECD’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) initiatives.
