Sustainability is part of who we are

At KPMG, we believe in a fair and just transition to net zero. As a leading provider of sustainability services, we have a responsibility to look at the impact of our own operations and support our clients’ and Australia’s transition to net zero. Our Climate Action Plan 2022-2030 outlines our key commitments and targets.

      KPMG’s sustainability priorities

Reducing emissions by 50% by 2030

We are committed to a 50% reduction on our 2019 emissions baseline across our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2030. Our progress includes continuing to procure 100% renewable electricity for our tenancies, placing a fee on our air travel through our Internal Price on Carbon, and working closely with our suppliers to ensure their decarbonisation targets are aligned with ours.

Supporting our clients' and Australia’s transition to net zero

As a leading provider of sustainability services, we have an important role to play in supporting the decarbonisation of our clients across industries, including carbon-intensive ones, by 2030, and in providing clients and financial markets with high quality information to support decision-making and disclosures, including assurance over climate and sustainability metrics.

Understand and improve our impact on nature

Since 2022, the KPMG Nature Positive Challenge supports the growth of innovative startups and impact ventures working on protecting nature and restoring biodiversity. We plant a tree for every KPMG employee annually and use the funds collected through our Internal Price on Carbon to support high integrity carbon credits.

      Climate risk and opportunities

Since 2024, KPMG has voluntarily published our Climate Risk Report, disclosing our approach to identify, assess and mitigate our climate risks and opportunities.

      Technology for a sustainable future

Sustainability is embedded in our technology choices. We prioritise cloud and data partners with science-based emissions targets and have powered our offsite data centres with renewable electricity since 2024.

      Empowering our people

Our people are central to our sustainability journey. We support employee-led initiatives like volunteering, recycling, and green travel, and provide training to inspire action at every level.

      Global advocacy and responsible partnerships

Through KPMG International (KPMGI) we engage with businesses, leaders, governments, and other key stakeholders to drive positive impact for people and nature on a global scale.
