Saru Balasubramani is a Director in KPMG in Bermuda’s Tax practice with more than 23 years of experience in U.S. taxation for the asset and wealth management industry. A Certified Public Accountant, he works closely with investment managers across private equity, private credit, real assets, and multi-strategy funds.
Saru specializes in managing complex U.S. tax requirements for global fund structures. He supports fund managers with tax filings, investor reporting, and structuring to ensure compliance and achieve tax efficiency.
In addition to his technical expertise, Saru focuses on making tax processes more efficient and reliable. He builds tools and automation that reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and streamline reporting, including solutions to integrate firm tools with the tax preparation software and other filing systems.
He has worked with teams across the United States, Bermuda, India, the Philippines, Guernsey, the Cayman Islands, and San Juan, giving him a strong global understanding of the work cultures that helps him effectively support clients working with multi-jurisdictional teams. He also brings programming languages and data analyst expertise, including Visual Basic, Python, JavaScript, and SQL, to develop practical, scalable solutions.
