Himad is a Partner in the Audit practice at KPMG in Bermuda, specialising in the insurance and reinsurance sectors. He joined KPMG in 2006 and has over 26 years’ experience with the firm, consistently working with its most complex and significant audit clients, including SEC registrants, and small to mid-sized property/casualty and life insurance companies.
He has extensive technical expertise in insurance and reinsurance accounting, with deep experience under US GAAP and IFRS, including leading IFRS conversion projects. His work within the life insurance sector spans term life, universal life, variable life, fixed and variable annuities, and equity-indexed annuities. Himad also manages complex PCAOB engagements involving risk transfer, business combination accounting, fair value of insurance liabilities, DAC/VOBA methodologies, and asset valuations, including hard-to-value instruments, alternative investments, and complex stock-based compensation arrangements.
In addition, Himad advises clients on SOX and internal control environments and supports SEC registrants with comment and comfort letters. He leads technical change projects relating to new accounting standards and maintains strong working relationships with the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
