Meet Nick
While leaving the firm’s London, Ontario Audit practice to pursue a Controller role in industry was the right move for Nick back in 2012, by 2021, after getting married and having his first child – during the pandemic – Nick’s priorities changed. A longer commute meant he didn’t get enough family time and his work-life balance suffered. When an opportunity in KPMG Enterprise came up, Nick recharged his career and, supported by a team of people he’s known for years, it felt like he hadn’t left at all. In fact, if felt like coming home.
Meet Louis-Charles
Louis-Charles thrived as the CFO of a fitness tech start-up after leaving KPMG. He used all his experience to help run and ultimately sell the company six months later. But while the start-up culture suited him, the lack of work life balance didn’t. When he was invited back to the firm, he jumped at the opportunity to apply his entrepreneurial mindset and build a new practice from the ground up – all with the work-life balance he wanted, and the support of the firm’s culture and its extraordinary people around him, too.
Meet Prashant
Visiting Toronto as a tourist during the summer of 2019, Prashant reached out to our Cybersecurity and Risk practice and from the very start, felt KPMG put people first. “After joining, I had my goals ready for my initial meeting with my performance manager, but his first question was, ‘Do you have a winter jacket?’ Caring about people has always been a driving force on the team.” Prashant took a role in industry in 2020, but, eighteen months later, returned to the firm. “I had new insights and perspectives, but I missed the KPMG team. I feel welcome and supported here.”
Meet Chinedu
Just three weeks after leaving the firm, Chinedu realized how much his KPMG career meant to him and came back. “I’m extremely supported by the people I work with, and I’ve had opportunity after opportunity here,” he says. For his return, Chinedu created a schedule that gives him more time with his family. And thanks to KPMG’s culture, he knows his wellbeing is valued. “People regularly ask how I’m doing and if my schedule is giving me what I need,” he says. “I wake up every day looking forward to the work I do.”
