With over a decade of cross-border tax experience, Shaira has acted as a trusted advisor to a diverse range of clients including medium-to-large sized Canadian multinationals, institutional investors, and pension funds. As a transactional lawyer, she crafts strategic, tax-driven solutions for clients navigating acquisitions, mergers, spin-offs, and other reorganizations.
Shaira's skill extends to complex partnership arrangements, private placements, debt financings, and private equity investments. She has a knack for simplifying the tax complexity associated with convertible debentures, Contingent Value Rights (CVR), earnouts, tax receivable agreements, and other deal structure instruments for both vendors and purchasers.
Shaira has been nominated multiple times in the Best Lawyers: One to Watch category for Tax Law, in 2022 and 2024.
Before joining KPMG, Shaira honed her skills in Toronto with two leading Canadian law firms. Her journey has been one of continuous learning and growth, and she brings this wealth of knowledge and experience to every client interaction.
