In 2023, KPMG in Canada joined forces with the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) for the second time to discover how construction companies were keeping up with the transformative changes required to truly reap the benefits of the digital age since 2020. Over the past 4 years, the industry has experienced a profound digital transformation driven by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), generative AI, and other digital technologies. Business leaders are increasingly adopting AI-driven tools to enhance decision-making, optimize resource allocation, and improve safety protocols.

2023 report
In our last report we highlighted how the pandemic acted as a catalyst for increased investment in technology, with two-thirds of construction companies reporting moderate to significant new investments. Despite this progress, the report indicated that the industry still lags in digital technology adoption compared to other countries. The report emphasizes the need for further investment in advanced technologies like robotics, digital twins, and big data analytics to enhance productivity, sustainability, and workforce utilization.
