Q. What differentiates transformations that succeed from those that fail?

At KPMG we believe transformation presents a unique set of opportunities for every business. Combining the right tech and the best processes with people whose insights are as broad as they are deep, are essential ingredients to successfully transform.

An awareness of “where we are” is the essential starting point. Anyone can unthinkingly follow market leaders and set unrealistic targets. But what works for one company might not work for another. It’s crucial to assess an organisation’s current baseline before determining the right transformation path.

Q. What are some misconceptions about transformation, and what tips can you offer to avoid them?

Businesses should realise transformation is not all about tech. IT experts alone are often no longer enough to achieve a successful digital transformation. Talent that truly understands different areas of the business are equally important. When we talk about digital transformation today, we’re not just referring to codes, wires, and screens anymore. We’re also exploring a change in mindset and culture. Lasting transformations require a multi-disciplinary approach, leveraging talent that truly understands different areas of the business.
