Ning leads KPMG China’s Banking and Capital Markets practice in Hong Kong, working closely with global banking clients, financial regulators, and central banks. His client portfolio spans private wealth management, corporate and investment banking, and global markets, with a particular focus on board governance, risk and regulatory transformation, and the embedding of technologies — from intelligent automation to agentic AI — into front-to-back operating models.
With over two decades of experience across consulting, investment banking, and regulatory advisory, Ning brings a combination of strategic perspective and operational depth. He has led large-scale transformation programs for GSIBs spanning front-to-back reviews of market, equities, and structured product businesses, KYC onboarding, CDD rolling reviews, client lifecycle remediation, and market conduct themes covering conflict of interest, pricing, and best execution. He has also led more than 15 high-profile risk, compliance, and regulatory enforcement engagements, and is a trusted adviser to financial regulators and central banks, for whom he has designed and implemented SupTech, RegTech, and Fintech strategies.
Prior to his current role, Ning led KPMG’s Hong Kong advisory business — encompassing over 850 professionals across transactions, transformation, technology, and risk and regulatory consulting — building it into a high-performing, globally integrated practice serving the firm’s largest financial institutions and regulators. Earlier in his career, he led the APAC Securities Division Internal Audit function at a global investment bank, where he pioneered early applications of big data analytics to drive intelligent, data-led risk reviews and special investigations across trading and investment businesses in 13 markets.
Ning is a recognised thought leader and frequent commentator on Hong Kong’s financial services landscape. He is the co-author of the annual Hong Kong Private Wealth Management Report (jointly with PWMA), the ASIFMA Capital Markets Report (jointly with ASIFMA), and KPMG China’s annual Hong Kong Banking Report — three of the most widely cited benchmark publications in the regional industry. He is a recurring presenter at the firm’s Board Leadership Forum, where he engages closely with INEDs on board-level priorities, most recently addressing the strategic implications of agentic AI and the imperative of building trusted AI systems to sustain public confidence and long-term business resilience. A regular speaker at leading industry forums, he has presented at the PWMA Wealth Management Summit, the ASIFMA Annual Conference, and numerous GSIB client events, among other high-profile platforms.
Ning is a committed advocate for diversity and inclusion and has championed gender equity and inclusive leadership throughout his career. He has partnered with the HK Women’s Chief Executive Network, The Women’s Foundation, HKEX, and the South China Morning Post on inclusion and diversity initiatives, and co-authored Tipping the Scale (jointly with WCE and TWF), a landmark publication examining Hong Kong’s role in advancing gender leadership in financial services.
