The reconstruction of Ukraine following Russia’s war of aggression requires not only investment in infrastructure, but also targeted measures to strengthen the skilled workforce. Educational institutions and further training programmes play a central role. Working closely with international organisations and businesses, KPMG supports these initiatives – with the aim of tackling the skills shortage and supporting Ukraine on its path to an economically successful future.

The war and the resulting migration have led to a significant shortage of skilled workers, which is affecting key industries in particular. Without targeted measures, this shortage could significantly delay economic recovery. KPMG is actively committed to supporting the professional development of Ukrainian graduates. Through hybrid programmes and workshops such as the Business Skill Camp and various upskilling programmes, we are specifically preparing skilled workers to meet international standards.

These initiatives provide essential skills in areas such as auditing, legal advice and management consultancy – precisely where skilled professionals are urgently needed for the reconstruction effort. In particular, lawyers, auditors and management consultants must be prepared to work to European and international standards so that they can play a key role in stabilising the country and contributing to its economic recovery. Programmes such as the Business Skill Camp and the upskilling initiatives are at the heart of this effort.

International education programmes such as the ‘Skills Alliance for Ukraine’ and ‘Education for Victory’ also promote the exchange of knowledge and cooperation at an international level. Through these initiatives, Ukrainian professionals gain access to world-leading educational resources and are specifically prepared for the challenges of reconstruction.
