Knowing where developments are heading. In South Tyrol, people know this pretty well. The "Geoanalyse" tool developed by the South Tyrol Trade and Services Association and KPMG shows how the flow of pedestrians in a city shifts when shopping centres open, museums are relocated or new roads are built. Thanks to the tool, the region of South Tyrol is digitally mapped in its entirety. Meaningful data was collected and analysed for this purpose - for example on the population structure and on as many businesses as possible in South Tyrol.

Up to 20 different technologies were used for the geoanalysis. An unprecedented analysis that provides insights into how to obtain relevant data, how to process it and how to draw conclusions from it. The data can be used to digitally develop certain scenarios that help to play through and then implement developments and ideas in urban planning.

Because: South Tyrol is enormously popular with tourists. The archaeological museum in Bolzano alone attracts up to 300,000 visitors a year. Ötzi's story is told there. This attraction alone is not enough. With the "geoanalysis" tool that we developed together with our client, South Tyrol is now relying on artificial intelligence and data science approaches to use data and algorithms to calculate how much tourism can be gained from a change in urban planning. In the past, such a study would have taken two years. Now, it takes just a few days to obtain a well-founded, data-based statement on what is important for successful urban planning.

Stop relying on your gut feeling when choosing a location. Our experts will support your decision with a data-based geoanalysis. Find out more here.
