Client Story: Telekom Mobility Solutions

The digitalisation of business processes is progressing and the need for digital and cloud-based applications is increasing. The mobility service provider Telekom Mobility Solutions (TMS) was faced with the challenge of fundamentally modernising numerous manual and time-consuming activities and the heterogeneous system landscape with data silos and media disruptions in the administrative area. The aim was to enable the existing workforce to independently develop digital solutions such as apps and chatbots.

The solution approach that KPMG successfully utilises together with Microsoft is called low-code: In development environments such as the Microsoft Power Platform, employees in specialist departments can easily create applications to digitalise and automate processes, even without programming knowledge. With the help of low-code, almost any employee can become a software developer - hence the term "citizen developer".
 

At the start of the project at TMS, we identified the existing challenges and defined four use cases for which the employees were to develop apps using low-code. The employees were then taught the basics of low-code and how to work with the Microsoft Power Platform modules in enablement workshops and hands-on training sessions. In the implementation workshops, they were instructed on how to develop the apps for the use cases.

The TMS employees were very enthusiastic about the possibilities of low-code technology. After a very short time, they were already familiar with the platform. The practical use cases were particularly motivating during implementation and inspired the employees to identify new use cases for digitalisation and automation in their working environment.

This laid an ideal foundation for driving digitalisation forward. Low-code makes specialist departments less dependent on internal IT so that they can implement adjustments quickly, flexibly and cost-effectively.
