Meet your future team - Our STEM students & graduates

“My journey with KPMG started before the graduate programme, having completed both a summer internship and an eight-month placement before accepting my graduate offer. Those experiences gave me a strong sense of the people, culture and quality of work at KPMG, and made the decision to return an easy one.

Since joining the graduate programme, I’ve worked across a wide range of Financial Services projects, including cost transformation, operating model design, benchmarking, programme delivery and AI-enabled initiatives. The variety of work has given me exposure to senior stakeholders, complex client challenges and cross-border collaboration with teams across the KPMG network.

One of the things I’ve valued most about KPMG is the level of trust and responsibility given to graduates early on. I’ve been able to contribute to executive-level materials, support large-scale transformation programmes, and play a role across the full project lifecycle, from analysis and design through to testing, reporting and implementation support.

KPMG has been a brilliant place to start my career. The work is varied, fast-paced and genuinely challenging, but you are surrounded by supportive teams who invest in your development and give you the opportunity to keep learning, build confidence and make a real impact”

      Pierce O’Donoghue, Management Consulting Associate

Pierce O'Donoghue - Graduate and student programmes

"I joined KPMG's Enterprise Risk Services practice as an Associate in October 2023 after completing a summer internship with the firm in 2022. The internship provided a great insight into the people, culture and variety of work at KPMG, so I was delighted to return and begin my career with the firm.

Since joining, I have gained exposure to a wide range of industries and organisations across Ireland and internationally. I have worked on engagements covering internal audit, controls testing, regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management and transformation programmes, giving me the opportunity to develop a broad skillset and gain valuable client experience.

From an early stage, I have been entrusted with meaningful responsibilities and have had the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders. The variety of work and level of responsibility have played a significant role in both my professional and personal development.

KPMG has also provided excellent support throughout my Chartered Accountants Ireland qualification journey. Through the KPMG Business School, I benefited from dedicated study leave, expert-led lectures, and comprehensive learning resources, all of which helped in successfully completing my ACA exams.

The combination of challenging client work, strong learning opportunities and a supportive team environment has made KPMG a great place to start and develop my career."

      Jack McSharry, Associate

Jack McSharry - Graduate and Student Programmes

"Joining KPMG's IT Audit department exceeded my expectations. As part of the D&A team I have gotten the chance to work with a wide range of clients from investment firms to aviation companies. I have learnt many beneficial lessons and gained invaluable experience in data analytics.

The work is an assortment of client and project work. Each client offers a new problem to solve, the problems can be difficult but are always engaging. On the other hand, project work has provided me the opportunity to be creative and provide a lasting benefit to KPMG. I have gained experience in tools such as Clara AI, Excel, Power BI, and Alteryx Designer during my placement.

The IT Audit department is incredible friendly and social. Everyone is more than happy to help out and answer questions and there is always an event or social gathering going on. The student programme has also provided many great nights out such as Bingo Loco at the Camden.

The KPMG business school is an amazing resource, the training provided really helped with getting work started and settling into life at KPMG. The placement has made me feel ready to jump into the Graduate programme."

      Daniel Keane, Associate

Daniel Keane - Graduate and Student Programmes

"Since joining KPMG’s consulting department as an intern, I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of client projects across several sectors. From supporting proposal development and research activities to contributing to client facing deliverables, the work has been both interesting and rewarding.

The variety of projects has given me valuable exposure to real business challenges and allowed me to develop both my technical and professional skills.

One of the highlights of the internship has been the support available throughout the programme. My Performance Manager and buddy have always been approachable and willing to answer questions, provide guidance, and offer advice whenever needed. Having this support network made the transition into a professional environment much easier and helped me build confidence from day one.

KPMG's collaborative culture is another aspect I have really enjoyed. Everyone has been welcoming and eager to help, creating an environment where interns feel involved from the outset. Through coffee chats, collaborative projects, and day to day interactions, I have had the opportunity to build strong relationships with colleagues across the firm and gain insight into different areas of the business.

The training provided through KPMG Business School has also been a valuable part of the experience. From professional skills workshops to technical training sessions, the programme has helped me develop practical skills that complement my project work.

The combination of structured learning and hands on experience has made the internship an excellent opportunity to grow both personally and professionally."

      Alexander O’Donoghue, Management Consulting Intern

Alexander O'Donoghue - Graduate and Student Programmes

Joining the Graduate Programme at KPMG has been an incredibly rewarding experience. From the outset, I felt both supported and challenged, which has accelerated my development in meaningful ways.

As part of the Construction Advisory team, I’ve gained exposure to a diverse range of sectors—including high-end residential, commercial developments, mission-critical facilities, hospitality, and fit-out projects. Each engagement presents unique challenges, and I’ve had the opportunity to contribute directly while learning from experienced professionals across the firm.

One of KPMG’s greatest strengths is its collaborative culture. I’ve worked alongside talented colleagues from various disciplines, and the emphasis on teamwork has helped me grow both professionally and personally. Whether through site visits, client interactions, or structured development programmes, there’s a strong sense of shared purpose and ambition.

Socially, being part of the KPMG community has been a fantastic way to build lasting friendships. From team socials to firm-wide events, there’s always something happening. Stokes Place has a vibrant atmosphere, and it’s been easy to connect with people across departments. I’m confident that the sense of community will only strengthen once we’re all working under one roof.

Overall, my experience at KPMG has exceeded expectations. The learning curve is steep, but the support is consistent and the opportunities are real. I would highly recommend the Graduate Programme to anyone looking to build a career in construction consultancy within a global firm that truly values its people.

      Olwyn Hughes, Consultant Construction Advisory

Olwyn Hughes - Grad and Student Programmes 2027

“What drew me to KPMG was how supportive and friendly the people were as well as having the common mindset of the willingness to never stop learning and improve on what we do. I am assigned a performance manager who was available to answer my questions regarding professional development as well as providing insightful feedback.

I have also found KPMG's working environment to be highly collaborative which gives me an opportunity to learn from others and share knowledge with others.

Since joining KPMG's IT Audit department, I have gained invaluable experience working for a variety of industries including Pharmaceuticals, Cybersecurity and Banking.

The KPMG Business School has provided me valuable training on an ongoing basis to develop my soft and technical skills that could be applied to my day to day work. The internal training and participation in client projects allowed me apply my technical knowledge to perform testing over IT controls applied to financial technologies.

The firm has provided many opportunities for me to grow personally and professionally by making a significant impact through clients engagements from day one of joining KPMG.“
