Thomas leads the Nature, Biodiversity and Land Use service line of KPMG Sustainable Futures.
A scientist by training with a 20+ year career spanning corporate sustainability strategy, communications, policy and advocacy.
Prior to joining KPMG, he was Head of Business Advocacy at WWF (The World Wide Fund for Nature) where he led a technical team working with global financial institutions and real economy businesses to drive the transition to a net zero and nature positive economy. Alongside this he was a technical member of the UK Government’s Transition Plan Taskforce.
At KPMG he leads a diverse range of projects for public and private sector clients in Ireland and globally, for example on national and international nature and biodiversity policy, on Science Based Targets for Climate, Nature and Land Use, agri-food sector transformation, Circular Economy, nature-related risks and dependencies assessments, TNFD LEAP, and integrated corporate transition planning in response to EU CSRD and other market and regulatory drivers.
Thomas was lead author of "The Nature of Finance", a first-in-kind study quantifying nature-related risks, impacts and dependencies for the Irish financial sector. In addition to Thomas’ corporate sustainability experience, he previously ran an award-winning documentary-making business for over 10 years producing environmental and social productions for clients such as The Guardian and WaterAid.
Outside of KPMG, Thomas is founding Director of Our Yard, an award winning social enterprise, he is on the Steering Committee for Natural Capital Ireland, the Impact Board of Go Nature Positive (a consortium led by Trinity College Dublin) and strategic advisor to Bioregioning SE Ireland.
