Andrew Watene is from Paengaroa in the Bay of Plenty, and of Tūhoe descent.
He returned to New Zealand in recent years with over 20-years in the agribusiness sector holding varying senior and executive roles, with 15 of those years in Asia, Africa, the America’s, and Europe.
He has a multifaceted role as Head of KPMG Propagate, leading KPMG New Zealand’s dedicated food, agribusiness and export advisory practice while developing and positioning KPMG’s agribusiness strategy with KPMG's Global Head of Agribusiness, Ian Proudfoot. He works predominately with New Zealand’s leading food and fibre businesses’, helping our clients manage their risk and grow, and especially enjoys working with organisations who identify as being Māori or export-orientated.
Our aspiration is to fuel New Zealand's prosperity by accelerating the competitiveness of our food and fibre sector so there is never a boring day, and a lot to keep us motivated with the work we do.
