As Group Head of Tax and Legal Services for KPMG UK and Switzerland, Vicki Heard is responsible for the strategy, performance, people and market position of the firm’s Tax and Legal practice.
She is a member of the firm’s Group Executive Committee and Group Investment Committee and sits on KPMG’s Global Tax and Legal Steering Group, helping to shape the direction of the practice internationally.
Vicki joined KPMG as a graduate in the Manchester office in 2001 and has spent her entire professional career with the firm. She developed her practice in corporate tax, specialising in banking and financial services, and became a Partner in 2014. She subsequently led KPMG’s Banking Tax practice and, from 2017, served as Performance Group Leader for Financial Services Tax and Legal.
In October 2020, she was appointed Head of Tax and Legal Services for KPMG in the UK. Between 2022 and 2025, she also served as EMA Region Head of Tax and Legal Services, leading the practice across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Vicki has extensive experience advising businesses on complex banking, financing and corporate transactions. Her work has included structured finance arrangements, bond issuances, IPOs and Class 1 transactions, as well as transaction structuring, tax due diligence and vendor due diligence for UK and cross-border deals. She has worked closely with KPMG teams around the world to provide international tax advice and coordinated support to multinational organisations.
Vicki is a prominent voice on tax policy, business ethics and the future of the tax profession. She has spoken on subjects including multilateralism, geopolitical change and the evolving international tax environment. From 2023 to 2025, she served as a Trustee of TaxAid, the charity providing free tax advice to people on low incomes.
Vicki is also closely involved in the development and adoption of tax technology, including digital tax platforms and technology-enabled tools designed to enhance the delivery of services to clients.
