Indigenous Internship Program
This optional complementary program provides interns with an opportunity to enrich their experience at KPMG as they participate in the wider programming within areas such as audit and assurance, tax, and advisory.
Eligibility Disclaimer
The Indigenous Internship Program is offered to all students and recent graduates who:
- Are eligible to work in Canada
- Self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis) to Canada
- Are enrolled in post-secondary education in Canada (diploma, degree, or graduate program)
- Are a soon to be graduate looking for full time opportunities
Program highlights include:

- One-on-one career discussions
- Community involvement
Students and soon to be graduates will receive support from the Truth and Reconciliation and Indigenous Recruitment Specialist, Brady Paul. Brady has worked with Indigenous students at the post-secondary level in career and education planning, employment, and reconnecting with Indigenous culture that is student and participant centered.

You can apply for consideration for the Indigenous internship program by submitting an application during one of our campus recruitment cycles with the following documents:

- Once you have applied and have been successful in the initial application review, a member of the KPMG Indigenous Talent Attraction team will reach out to discuss the opportunity, what the process will look like, and answer any questions.
- If your application is successful, you will be contacted to schedule an interview based on your area of interest in audit and assurance, tax, advisory, or digital.
- During the recruitment process, you will receive interview preparation resources and be connected with a member of the KPMG Indigenous Talent Attraction team. This is to help ensure your questions get answered, and that you feel equipped for success throughout this process.

- KPMG internships are typically between 4 to 8 months in length.
- For co-op roles, you must be enrolled in a co-op program at your school.
- Placement periods are offered in the: Fall, Winter or Summer.
Cultural Events: Establishing a connection to community and culture through events are an important part of the KPMG culture. Attend traditional teaching sessions and participate in the recognition of significant dates to celebrate Indigenous culture, language, and history.
Indigenous Speaking Series: Learn from leaders in a variety of areas of business. Learn from those internal to KPMG such as the Indigenous Client Services on the Indigenous and Canadian Tax Guide or external members of the community on Indigenous Wellness Practices.
One-on-One Career Discussions: Through 1:1 career discussions, you will receive feedback on success factors, career coaching, and receive overall support tailored to you and where you want to thrive!
Community Involvement: Giving to our communities is an important part of life at KPMG. During your time at KPMG, you will have the opportunity to support and give back to the Indigenous community by volunteering internally and/or externally.
- Through the Indigenous Mentorship Program, interns will have to opportunity to connect with professionals in Tax, Audit, Business Enablement Services, Digital and Advisory to gain insight and guidance on navigating their career.
- The National Indigenous Peoples Network is a passionate group of KPMG employees across Canada who are committed to creating an inclusive work environment with Indigenous employees, increasing awareness of Indigenous culture and history across the firm, and giving back to the Indigenous community. KPMG Indigenous Student Award
Launched in 2012, the KPMG Indigenous Student Awards program is administered by Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries, Scholarships and Awards program. It is available to Indigenous post-secondary students in the pursuit of university or college education across Canada.
Program details
This award is open to all Indigenous candidates (First Nations, Inuit and Métis) who are attending post-secondary institutions (i.e. college or university) with demonstrated financial need for contributions to education costs. In collaboration with KPMG’s National Indigenous Peoples Network, award recipients have access to the KPMG Indigenous Mentorship program along with employment conversations, assistance, and guidance.
To be eligible you must:
- Be an Indigenous Person (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis)
- Be enrolled in an accredited institution such as:
- an accredited university program
- an accredited college program
- Not be a member of the staff, board, or past participants at the time of applying for funding support.
