Artificial intelligence has become a key prerequisite for competitiveness, innovation and efficiency. This is confirmed by our study "Generative AI in the German economy 2025". Compared to last year's survey, the relevance of the technology has increased further and this trend is set to continue. For companies, this means that waiting is not an option, as the gap between companies that use AI successfully and those that do not is widening. There is therefore pressure to act if you don't want to fall behind.
The results also show that companies' willingness to invest in the technology is at a high level and continues to grow. Trusted AI - i.e. trustworthy, comprehensible and ethically sound AI - is becoming a decisive success factor, while ethics and AI governance as well as employee enablement have become decisive factors when it comes to exploiting the potential of AI responsibly and sustainably.
The study is based on information from 653 decision-makers from 18 industries who we surveyed on the role of generative AI in their company - and continues our first analysis on the topic from 2024.
