Nordic Harvest has developed a vertical farm that grows cabbage and herbs in a controlled environment. In a large warehouse in Taastrup, Nordic Harvest produces vegetables on 14 floors, and already has an agreement with Salling Group, which means that they are constantly sold out of their product range.
Nordic Harvest wants to prove that it is possible to move food production from country to city, enabling production on a smaller area, and get a crop that has the best growth conditions without the use of fertilizers and pesticides. In this way, areas that can be used for reforestation in Denmark are freed up and it ultimately helps to reduce agricultural CO2 emissions.
