Richard Murray is a Partner in KPMG UK’s transfer pricing team.
Richard specialises in designing, documenting and implementing tax efficient transfer pricing policies for multinational companies. He has around twenty five years of consulting experience and specialises in economic analysis, valuation, transfer pricing policy setting and audit defence / APA work.
Richard is an economist and previously worked for HM Treasury as a member of the Government Economics Service and for a boutique economic consultancy firm, where he specialised in IP valuation matters for a variety of purposes. He has contributed to various publications on transfer pricing related issues, including the BNA Transfer Pricing Journal and the International Tax Review.
His clients span a range of different sectors, in particular:
- Financial services, where Richard has a particular specialism in transfer pricing operating model design questions
- Fintech, with a portfolio of Fintechs as well as IP related projects in the wider FS sector.
- Energy, natural resources and renewables (ENR), Richard has a portfolio of ENR clients and leads for Tax as part of our firm wide Commodity and Carbon Trading Solutions (CCTS) practice which advises on many aspects of commodity trading operating model design matters.
Both financial services and non-financial services sectors. He leads the financial services community of experts and has a particular specialism in transfer pricing operating model design questions. He leads on financial services IP advisory projects, with a portfolio of IP related projects in the FS sector which includes a wide variety of Fintech work.
He also has a leadership role for KPMG UK tax and legal on commodity trading. He operates as an industry specialist for this market, and is co-leader of the KPMG UK Commodity and Carbon Trading Solutions team.
