Enhancing Efficiency and Effectiveness in Policing with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS)
  • Client

    State Government in India

  • Primary goal

Focusing on upgrading and scaling the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) to improve policing efficiency and effectiveness

  • Outcome

KPMG in India’s intervention led to significant advancements in the CCTNS project

The opportunity

The CCTNS, implemented as a ‘Mission Mode Project (MMP)’, aimed to create a integrated system to enhance policing at all levels, particularly at the police station level, through e-Governance principles. By 2010-11, the client recognised the need to scale up the project infrastructure and enhance the existing software to enable integration with multiple systems. KPMG India was engaged to facilitate this transition and ensure the project's successful execution.

KPMG in India's response

KPMG in India provided thorough support to upgrade and expand the CCTNS project.

The project involved several key interventions

Integrated cloud systems with offline applications to create a cohesive and efficient data management framework.

  • Centralised data repository

Developed a centralised application to establish a data repository encompassing critical crime and criminal justice data.

  • Programme management

Oversaw and supported major activities of the scheme at different levels to assist in smooth project execution.

  • API-based integration

Enabled seamless data transfer among components of the Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (IJCS) through API-based integration support.

  • Training and capacity building

Conducted training and capacity-building sessions for stakeholders across various pillars of the system to assist in effective implementation and utilisation.

  • IT infrastructure and network connectivity

Provided essential IT infrastructure, network connectivity, and cloud-based tools to support the project’s rollout at the state level.
